How often does the light shine into our lives and into our churches but fails to shine out? As Katie and I traveled around the port city of Marseille, we happened upon this little church with the light of God's creation illuminating the light of His salvation. What a beautiful sight to behold! But how often does the light come in and never make its way back out? Christ calls us to be lights in a dark world. All too often, though, God's light shines into our hearts, but we keep it hidden. This must not be so. Jesus says, "You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden... In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven" (Matt. 5:14-16).
May the song we sang as children ring true in our lives today: This little light of mine, I'm going to let it shine. This little light of mine, I'm going to let it shine. Let it shine... let it shine... let it shine....
