Last weekend the French celebrated Armistice Day, the day commemorating the armistice signed between the Allies and the Germans on Nov. 11, 1918... the day that marked the end of the World's first great World War. Celebrations erupted in small towns all across the country. In Massy Katie and I attended the local celebration and remembrance of those heroes who fought and died in WWI. Seventy-seven brave souls from Massy gave their lives during the onslaught of that war. But as we listened to the names being read of those who gave their lives for the freedom of France, I couldn't help but think of the one who gave His life for the freedom of the French people almost 2000 years ago. The French do not neglect to remember their brave soldiers, but they do neglect their creator God. Not once during the whole ceremony was a prayer said or a word about God given!
The French life revolves around the pursuit of liberty, equality, and brotherhood, yet the very thing they seek can only be found in the One they have denied. True liberty... True equality... and True brotherhood can only be found through Christ Jesus our Lord.
