Taking a Tour

This past week we were able to go with some other students to Paris for a historical tour of the Notre Dame as well as another old church in the center of town. Alain Joly, a local minister (pictured at left), gave us an exciting lesson of history about both churches. Though we have both already seen the Notre Dame and heard some of its history, Alain told us some things we hadn't heard yet. It was also exciting to take an entire tour in French and actually understand most of what was being said.

The other church, seated just a few hundred meters from Notre Dame in the heart of old Paris, has an allure all of its own. Walking through the big red wooden door from the street, you first see a small courtyard surrounded by weathered stone pillars. The church actually has in its possession two original copies of bible commentaries by Martin Luther. Both books are dated 1525 and are in excellent condition.

Notre Dame is actually one thing we did go into in Paris on our quick day tour, so fun to hear about your tour! I always enjoy your blog but don't write/comment as much as I should to you too - hope you're both doing well!
